Stage & Pole Information
The competition stage height is approximately 1 meter. The stage measures 8 by 8 meters and will be covered with tatami and a dance mat.
Competition poles are supplied by X-Pole: stainless steel, 45 mm in diameter. The distance between the poles is 2.85–3.1 meters.
In the warm-up area, at least two X-Pole 45 mm stage poles are available.
Stage rehearsal
The stage rehearsal will be without music. Each national delegation will be given a time slot for testing the poles, which they can divide amongst the athletes evenly. The timetable will be sent to each delegation and athlete in the Welcome letter on October 2026.
Registration
Each athlete needs to have a competition WHEA/POSA license with approved anti-doping contract 2026 no later than August 26th, 2026.
Registrations will open on 1st of September 2026 at 12:00 (Helsinki time) and will close on 4th October 2026 at 23:59 (Helsinki time). The competition fee will be paid via Suomisport when registered.

Please note: to accommodate all time zones, the organization will wait up to 12 hours after closing (midnight on October 4th, 2026, time zone: Helsinki). All registrations received after the 12-hour grace period but within the respective 12 hours will be subject to a surcharge of €50 per athlete, in addition to the registration fee. All registrations received after the above-mentioned period will not be accepted.
POSA World Championships finals
At the 2026 Pole Sport World Championships, all amateur categories will be held as direct finals. The Competitive and Parapole categories will follow the Code of Points and the Rules and Regulations.
Access to the competition area / Accreditation
The competition area is accessible to the members of the various juries, competing athletes and their accredited coaches, to accredited head of delegations, to the auxiliary personnel of the Jury, to the President of the POSA, Medical Commission, the official doctor, the team doctors, medical staff and to persons concerned with the apparatus. A team medical person is permitted to accompany the athletes and coaches during all Competitions.
The competition area is strictly forbidden to all other persons.
All accreditation persons must do their accreditation at competition venue on November 25th or latest before their stage rehearsal time.
The documents to be presented at the accreditation desk are:
- copy of identity card or passport
- Certificate of completed WADA anti-doping education (for Finnish athletes, the “Puhtaasti ja Reilusti Paras” training provided by SUEK). WADA international athlete course can be found here:
Accreditation allows the identification of all participants and indicates access to specific areas. Access to all areas will be controlled. The accreditation pass must be worn visibly for the entire duration of the event. The accreditation pass is personal, non-transferable, and required to access the training and competition halls. The accreditation pass must be completed with the required information and presented at the entrance areas together with an identity document in order to gain access.
Accreditation will be carried out upon arrival. During accreditation, athletes and/or Heads of Delegation will verify the identity of the members of their delegation. In order to obtain accreditation, all members of the delegation must have fulfilled all required financial obligations (including insurance).
POSA Directives and Technical Regulations will be strictly applied, particularly with regard to the number of accredited persons per nation. Accreditation may also be completed by the Head of Delegation on behalf of all athletes.
The Head of Delegation or the athlete must present themselves at the accreditation desk with all documents already prepared.
Music
Athletes must send their music in MP3 format by October 31st. Detailed instructions will be provided in the Welcome Letter.
In addition, the competitors need to bring their music with them to the venue on the competition days on an USB stick as a backup.
Each Federation must send The National anthem by email to info@tankotanssi.fi on October 31st at the latest.
Doping control
Any doping is prohibited. A doping control can be done to the athletes at any time, without a pre-warning, in accordance with POSA regulations. Doping controls will be carried out in accordance with the WADA regulations.

Opening ceremony
The Official Opening Ceremony will be held on November 26th for all categories, in the Competition Hall.
The ceremony will consist of Flags Presentation by nation with the competitors by nation performing a special greeting for the audience. All competitors must wear their national tracksuit.
All delegations must have the National Flag (dimension of 100/200 cm) with them on Opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony is mandatory: at least five athletes per delegation must be present at the ceremony. For any kind of clarification, or to report a problem (e.g. inability to be present at the opening ceremony due to a plane ticket at a different time), please write to info@tankotanssi.fi
Insurance
POSA Technical Regulations stipulate that all participating federations or athletes must assume all costs of the medical insurance of all delegation members (illness and accidents). The Local Organizing Committee has the right to verify the validity of the insurance upon arrival of the delegations (policy insurance, original or copy in english language is better).
Entering the World Championships without valid medical insurance for all delegation members will be rejected.
Visa
Please check whether you need a visa to enter Finland The Local Organizing Committee will gladly assist you in applying for a visa. The assist must be requested no later than 4th of October to info@tankotanssi.fi
Filming and Photography at the Event
Information about photo and video package will be published on the official competition website and on welcome letter. Photos and videos are taken by Mikko Karsisto.
Filming and photography for personal use is permitted from your own seat in the audience or from separately designated filming areas. Filming must not cause any disturbance to the audience, competitors, judges, or other competition staff.
Using professional equipment (*) for personal use, media purposes, or marketing purposes requires a separate accreditation. The number of accreditations is limited, and submitting an accreditation request does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
* In practice, only filming with a mobile phone is allowed without separate permission. Filming with any other type of equipment requires an official permit.
Accreditation requests must be sent in free-form via email to info@tankotanssi.fi. The email must clearly state:
- The name of the photographer
- Who will be photographed
- The intended use of the photos.
Accreditation requests must be submitted no later than November 1st, 2026. Applications will be processed during the application period, and you will receive a response no later than a few days after the deadline.
